September is Whole Grains Month

When you shop, look for the Whole Grain Stamp; every product that has one contains at least half a serving (8g) of whole grains. Try substituting brown rice for white or replace half the white flour in that recipe with whole wheat flour; or add uncooked oats to your ground beef or turkey when making burgers or meatballs. On a gluten-free diet? Try quinoa, teff, buckwheat or millet. For an A-to-Z description of whole grain options, recipes and more contact The Whole Grains Council. 617-421-5500. wholegrainscouncil.org.
